Dr. Albaghdadi received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he finished with a research distinction and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. After completing his residency in internal medicine at Northwestern University, Dr. Albaghdadi then simultaneously completed his cardiology fellowship, physician-scientist training program and masters of science in clinical investigation, all at Northwestern as well. He has since completed sub-specialty fellowships in interventional cardiology, vascular medicine and intervention at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School where he was on the faculty. Dr. Albaghdadi then obtained additional training in structural and adult congenital interventions at the Toronto General Hospital/University of Toronto. Dr. Albaghdadi is a highly decorated and well-published cardiologist and physician-scientist, with dozens of awards to his name. He has been published more than 50 times on a variety of medical topics. He is driven by research and clinical investigation. He is a champion of early-stage medical devices in interventional cardiology for patients where no therapies exist. In addition, Dr. Albaghdadi has an interest in global health and is an active volunteer and board member of a U.S.-based, non-profit that trains cardiovascular professionals in East Africa, known as Madaktari Africa. Dr. Albaghdadi was born and raised in Clinton, Iowa. He is married to his high-school sweetheart, Elisa, and is the proud father of three children.
