Dr. David H. Lindner is a graduate of Des Moines University. He did his internship and an Internal Medicine Residency with the COGMET program at Michigan State University. He then continued at St. John’s/Oakland General in Detroit where he completed a Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship before moving on to a Critical Care Fellowship at St. Louis University/St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. He worked in Bangladesh in Malumghat as a medical volunteer, and after moving to Naples Florida, he completed an Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Auburn University. Dr. Lindner began his interest in pulmonary hypertension while in St. Louis and after his arrival in the Naples area, participated in the initial research related to the approval of a Prostacyclin agent. He has been an active part of the pulmonary hypertension community since coming to southwest Florida in 1994. Currently, he has several research projects in pulmonary hypertension, including having participated in multi-center trials for this and several other diseases. In addition to being the sub-division head of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the medical director of the NCH Intensive Care Units and Respiratory Care, Dr. Lindner has interests in non-tuberculous mycobacterium, interventional pulmonary medicine and plays an active part in the lung cancer screening program and interventional diagnostics. He is one of the core providers of endobronchial valves in the region. He has recent active basic research in atypical mycobacterial lung disease and subdural hematoma care in the ICU. He has been the NCH COVID-19 medical director throughout the pandemic. Dr. Lindner has been recognized twice as the NCH Physician of the Year Honoree and NCH’s Physician of the Year in 2020 and has been given the Patient’s Choice Award, the Crystal Angel Award and is a COMPASS Award Recipient. He is an active local, regional and has been a national speaker in pulmonary and critical care. He is the associate program director of the Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship, active in research with multiple recent publications and an instructor of internal medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and an associate professor of internal medicine at University of Central Florida, and is the senior member of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.
