The physicians at OAWF are among the most experienced and highly trained surgeons in the region; some have even taught advanced surgical techniques to other physicians from around the world. Special areas of practice expertise
Dr. Ali Zahrai is a fellowship trained spine surgeon, specializing in disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. His practice focus includes minimally invasive spine surgery, robotic-assisted spine surgery and stem cell therapy. Dr. Zahrai grew up in Toronto, Canada and received his medical degree from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. He went on to complete his residency at the University of Toronto, where he was selected to the prestigious Surgeon-Scientist Program and obtained a Master of Science degree with his research focusing on patient education and outcomes in spine surgery. Dr. Zahrai also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at Emory University. In addition to treating patients, Dr. Zahrai spends time training future surgeons. He is currently a member of the teaching faculty for the Largo Medical Center Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program, and has numerous peer-reviewed publications.
